Airene-tor is a vibrant blue-green planet with a single continent, home to humans, elves, gnomes, halflings, and many other races. Four kingdoms constantly vie for dominance of the continent.  Numerous city-states, species ancestral lands and frontier townships focus daily on maintaining their independence.

Life on Airene-tor mirrors Earth’s Renaissance. Travel relies on horses and sailing ships, industry is composed of individual farmers and craftsmen, and battles involve personal combat with steel and sorcery.

For ages, magical mists have appeared in small pockets across the continent, twisting living beings into strange forms, sometimes granting incredible new powers. Planting trees absorbs the mists and transforms the wood into Spiritwood. This wonder material is stronger, more durable, burns brighter, and forms the base of incredible magical items. Owners of fields where these rare mist fields appear gain immense wealth and power, and yet are also reviled for being mist-touched, and the frequent deformation of their bodies.

Airene-tor has no known islands not near the continent’s coastline, except for one.   A lonely volcanic isle, 3 months travel from the continent, situated near a massive, 100-mile-wide swirling mist. The wealthy Bright family, who own several mist fields, built Brighthaven on this island. For the past 50 years, they’ve dedicated themselves to studying the mists.

Recently, the Bright family announced a groundbreaking discovery: more islands exist within the mists. They established Tiny Town on its eastern bank and planted enough trees to protect it from the mists and to start cultivating Spiritwood. The prospect of cultivating and shipping vast quantities of Spiritwood to the mainland promises both immense wealth for the Brights and their employees and significant disruption to Airene-tor’s societies.

You’ve journeyed to Brighthaven and Tiny Town, perhaps to seek your fortune, find adventure, or escape your past. What will you discover here, and what will you build in this land of wonders and dangers?
